The Pinterest numbers that matter for store traffic
Impressions, saves, and outbound clicks — how sellers decide which pins to double down on after publishing from Orping.
Pretty pins are vanity until someone clicks through to your Shopify product, Etsy listing, or offer page. After pins go live, watch a short list of metrics — not every chart in the dashboard.
The four that matter
| Number | What it tells you | |--------|-------------------| | Impressions | Are you showing up in search and feeds at all? | | Saves | Is the idea worth keeping? (strong intent signal) | | Pin clicks | Did the creative earn a tap? | | Outbound clicks | Did they leave Pinterest for your product URL? |
For sellers, outbound clicks are the traffic number. Saves help future ranking. High impressions with almost no clicks usually means the title or on-pin promise is unclear — not that you need more volume of the same design.
How to act on the data
- Wait days, not hours. Pinterest distributes slowly.
- Find pins with saves but weak outbound clicks — improve the destination match (title ↔ listing).
- Find pins with outbound clicks — make more angles of that product in Orping and schedule them.
- Retire or rewrite pins that only collect impressions.
Orping shows these metrics on your Schedule view for pins you published from the product, so you can see which creatives earn the click without exporting spreadsheets first.
Remember the goal
Organic Pinterest is a compounding channel. The pin you publish this week can still send shoppers next season. Metrics tell you which stories deserve another five-pack — not which ones looked nicest in a mockup.
